Adrenalin & Adventure in Rotorua

Sky Diving
See the beauty of Rotorua from up high, give yourself over to gravity and take a spine-tingling, tandem skydive, an experience you will never forget! Rotorua has a range of companies that run skydives in the area. For more information on Rotorua sky diving, contact Sudima Hotel Lake Rotorua reception.

White Water Excitement

Every year thousands of people white-water raft or sledge the mighty Kaituna River near Rotorua. In one hour, you and your professional guides will navigate more than 14 turbulent rapids. Your adrenalin-filled adventure culminates in rafting over the seven-metre Tutea Falls.

Agrodome
Some of New Zealand’s most exciting adrenalin activities are on offer at the Agrodome, including the Rotorua Bungy, the Swoop, Zorbing and Body-flying. New Zealand pioneered the sport of Bungy-jumping, and at the Agrodome you can experience this now world-wide phenomenon. Jump (head-first!) off a tower that stands 142 feet in the air, free-falling until your bungy cord saves you. What a rush!

If you’ve always wanted to experience sky diving, but just can’t pluck up the courage to leap out of a plane, then Body-flying is for you. Zip up your flight suit and climb into Australasia’s only wind tunnel sky dive simulator at Rotorua’s Agrodome. You can Freefall Xtreme on the two-minute ‘Teaser’ or the four-minute ‘Fully Blown’ ride. Fly four metres off the ground, reaching speeds of 180 kph.

Another Kiwi invention, the Zorb is a wild and wacky ride (roll) down a very steep, 170 metre hill. Climb inside the Zorb, a massive air-filled sphere and let the fun begin! For an added buzz, you can try the Zigzag Zorb or Wet Zorb. All available at Rotorua’s Agrodome.

Also on offer at the Agrodome, the Swoop has been described as a bungy-jump and a flying experience rolled into one wicked adrenalin ride. You’ll be strapped into a hang-gliding harness and lifted 40 metres off the ground. Ready, set, Swoop – the rip-cord is pulled and you fly 100 metres at 130 kph, reaching a G-Force factor of three.

Jet Boating
New Zealand’s fastest jet boat ride is on offer at the Agrodome. Board the Agrojet and hold on tight, you’ll reach speeds of 100 kilometres per hour in just four seconds, around a purpose-built race course. You’ll reach G-Forces similar to a Formula One race car.

New Zealand River Jet’s Thermal Safari offers you the combination of a wild jet boat ride, with a journey to Orakei Korako- the Hidden Valley. You’ll whiz down the Waikato River, through the unspoilt and stunning Tutukau Gorge and past trout-feeding areas, steaming volcanic banks and lush forest. Scream with delight as your jet boat spins 360 degrees!

To see the magnificent Huka Falls up close, take a ride on the Huka Jet. Your jet boat thunders up to the very base of the mighty falls - where 47 rivers and streams feed into just one outlet and every second, 220,000 litres of water falls over a high cliff.

Action New Zealand
Action New Zealand offers plenty of outdoor entertainment. Try your hand at axe and knife throwing, electronic (laser) clay-target shooting and archery. Ride the mechanical bull, play the short golf course (9 holes that range from 45-90 metres) or battle your friends in the Ultimate Outdoor Combat Challenge – ambush, attack and defend in a native bush setting.

Skyline Skyrides
Skyline Skyrides offers you a stunning gondola ride to the peaks of Mount Ngongotaha. To get back to ground level, you can board your own luge and either cruise leisurely or hurtle down the various luge tracks. There is over five kilometres of downhill tracks to ride and scenic, intermediate and advanced luge track levels to try.

Skyline Skyrides is also the home of Fun Gun, where you can test your aim with safe Pump Action Rifles. After all the action, relax at the top of the mountain at Terraces Café or the Cableway Restaurant and Bar. The delicious food is complemented by the best vistas in town – panoramic views that take in Rotorua city, Lake Rotorua, pockets of geothermal activity and so much more.

Volcanic Air Safaris
Conveniently located at the Rotorua city lakefront and in close proximity to the Sudima Hotel Lake Rotorua, Volcanic Air Safaris delight in providing you with a flight experience which offers exceptional service and a team of highly qualified pilots.

Elect the thrill of the helicopter or the elegance of the floatplane, to view some of the most dramatic geothermal scenery and activity Rotorua and the surrounding areas have to offer. Combine this with an unlimited selection of attraction options. There is no better way to view this magical region than from above, in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the heritage and the history of Rotorua.

One of the most popular trips is a landing on or viewing of New Zealand’s most active volcano White Island. Also visit Orakei Korako – the Hidden Valley, a colourful and picturesque geothermal park.
